Pet Evacuation Bill Heads to the Governor

The Pet Evacuation bill has passed both the Louisiana Senate and House and now heads to Governor Blanco for signature. The House voted 91-0 for the bill. Changes made by a House committee provide that the bill will take effect only if money becomes available from the federal government or if the governor's office agrees to finance the evacuations from a $150 million revolving fund in the state budget that's set up to finance human hurricane evacuations.
